This important webinar will provide an overview of the proposed changes to the general registration competencies by the Psychology Board of Australia Chair.

The webinar will focus on helping you understand the proposed updates to the general registration competencies including:

  • the updates on professional reflexivity, deliberate practice and self-care (Competency 3)
  • the improvements to Competency 7 to emphasise culturally safe care with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, families and communities
  • the improvements to Competency 8 to better address the diversity in the Australian community
  • how to meet and maintain threshold competency in your individual scope of practice
  • the importance of continuing professional development as a tool for mainlining and extending your individual scope of practice
  • how you can provide feedback to the Board’s consultation.

The presentation by the Psychology Board Chair will be followed by a Q&A hosted by AAPi’s Chief Services Officer Amanda Curran.

Consultation and further information

The Psychology Board of Australia is consulting on updating the competencies for general registration as a psychologist in Australia.

The consultation is now open to practitioners, members of the community, employers and other stakeholders to give feedback on the proposal.

The Psychology Board have developed a Guide to the review that outlines the key aspects of the consultation. It will help practitioners, higher education providers, employers, supervisors and clients understand the proposed changes. The following information is also available.
